Japan on low bands

I have been working quite some JAs on 80m and 40m the last few weeks...

Unfortunatly I am only able to operate from Friday night aroung 2100UTC untill Sunday 2000UTC

This week I received losts of direct requests from JA that will follow this week.

I am trying to be active on 160m as much as I can in order to give Japanese stations the a new, but the only one I heard from the past weeks was JA4DND for some secunds...

IRCs vs USD

I am still getting lots of direct QSLs, mainly from USA, with USD, I strongly recommend you to send IRCs cause you get the card the following week I get it.

USD is much more difficult to exchange here

Postage Increase In Portugal

Today I went to the post office and I was surprised to see that the postage has increased:

Prices from 1 August 2008
USA - 0,8 €
Europe - 0,67€

As you can see 1 USD is not enough, not even for Europe. 1 USD costs today 0,51 € so 2 USD should be needed for both Europe and USA.

I recommend everyone to send IRCs or € coins/bills cause it is much easier and faster for me to send out Dirtect cards!

New antena - 30m - 10Mhz

Some days ago Nelson, CT2JOP offered us 1 element short for 40m and as we didnt have any good antena for 30m we decided to build a dipole with a litle trap for 30m

The antena is at +- 23mH and seems to be working quite well.

First QSOs were with JA and VK, the JAs were quite loud dispite the heavy QRN

We are quite active now on 30m and giving special attention to Asia and Pacific.
